Problem with dummy gauges

I was working a problem in my instrument cluster and the "dummy" gauges on the left side, voltage and oil pressure, stopped working. The Oil pressure was very dim at first, then it went dead.

Might anyone be able to let me know, please, why this might have happened? Specifically, what fuse controls these dummy gauges or if it's a grounding problem? Thanks so much!

It's a 1972, just dummy factory warning lights, no upgraded gauges.

Some add'l info if it helps: illumination bulbs for gauges still work, temp dummy light works too, fuel gauge seems to work as well

Re: Problem with dummy gauges

First thing I'd do is swap known working bulbs with problem ones. I'd also check the sockets with a voltmeter to see what kind of readingbyou get with ignition on, car not running, then start the car and see if you're getting voltage and if it's changed from the "ON" test.

Next thing I'd do is trace the wires. A forty-something year old car might've had other owners who mess with the dash wiring and made a haphazard ground or a lousy twist patch so look for electrical tape. Not many would rewire the car when a (good) patch should work.

Bad Grounds can cause havoc in automotive electrical systems.
