Please help me find my car!

Hey guys, we've all had this wish right, to find the car we wish we'd never sold. Well, I'm trying desperately to find mine. I purchased my 70 Z/28 back in 79 when I was 19 years old. I drag raced it for several years while I was in college and let me tell you, trying to go to school full time, work full time and have a child made it tough to keep the Z. Eventually, my wife and I decided it had to go so we could make ends meet. I sold it to her brother Mike Shaw, who took it with him to St. George, Utah. He had it for a few years and then sold it to a guy who ran the body shop at the local Ford dealership there in town. Mike says, he thinks the guys name was Mark? but he could be wrong. When I had the car, it was the original dark blue metallic, after Mike sold the car, Mark? added a front air dam, painted it black and flamed it. Whether or not he remained in Utah is unknown. I would love to get this car back and return it to its original dark blue color and keep it forever. If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of the car, please contact me at 801-791-2653 in Utah. I was able to post one pic of how it looked back in the day, but I couldn't get the 2nd pic of how it looked after it was painted to load. I'll try again.

Re: Please help me find my car!

Any chance you have a VIN#? I know there are some websites that can give information based on the VIN#.

Re: Please help me find my car!

I don't have the vin# it's been too long unfortunately. I am calling the Utah DMV to see if they may have a record of all vehicles registered to me since the start. Just a shot in the dark but maybe I'll get lucky.

Can you list those websites here? I've tried this same route . trying to find the '75 Rally Sport that I had in college from 1979 thru 1983. I did get the vin# from my DMV, but don't know where else to go after that.

Thanks!

Re: Please help me find my car!

WoW! I have used several websites primarily www.carfax.com to look up vehicle history based on VIN#. However, apparently sometime in the early 80's I believe all manufacturers switched to a 17 digit #. So they have issues looking for older cars like ours. However, I know there are a few websites out there because I was able to dig up some history on my 69 camaro based on the VIN#, but I going to have to do some more research. I will see what I can come up with, but if anyone else has some pointers please assist.
