1974 Muncie M21

I have a muncie M21 with Vin #14N192910 date code P4R23B. I am trying to find out info on trans.
If I am correct this was installed in a camaro In April 74 according to production vin #'s.
1974 Ending VIN by Month
Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Jan
Norwood: 103546 111226 122449 132731 140883 155295
Feb Mar Apr
169040 183937 197997
Borg-Warner 4 speed replaces Muncie in January 74 ?
Transmission as XXXX through old codes. Was this a special order not wanting the Borg-Warner Super T-10? Replaced with Muncie M21 left over or just that you still had an option then.

Any way possible to look up this car by just the tranny vin?

It would have come out of a 74 Z28. What else are you trying to find out? Stronger than the 69/70 and prior M21. I have one from a 73 Z28 in my 69.

Re: 1974 Muncie M21

That's cool because my original trans is stamped P4R24B or a day later and also has some XXX'd out numbers on it

I have an original 74 z/28 with M21 trans. This was what they would do if they made a mistake in stamping numbers. My car is 03C and it is known that Jan 74 was a timeline that was not met on the switchover to the T-10 becuase there are many surviving examples that can dispute that.

This may be the timeline when they were getting to the end of the M21 usage. My VIN is 14N179503

I thank you for responding and verifying the xxxxx on this M21 for me. My intention is to try and see if this z/28 still exists and see if the owner is interested in this M21 before I list it for sale as I have no use for it. My current project will be an automatic. Matching #'s cars are also more valuable as you well know.

Thanks again
Rick

I totally agree with this.

Full VIN could be

1Q87T4N192910 for a z/28 w/o Type LT

1S87T4N192910 for a z/28 w/ Type LT

I googled both and came up with nothing

Re: 1974 Muncie M21

I could not "quote" your messages with the Nasty z/28 link as I have not responded to more than 2 replies. I posted this on Nasty z/28 forum a few days ago and actually you guys were more informative, might just have been the right guys did not see or respond. I also did the same with the 2 variable of vin# till 5am this morning. I hate it when I cannot find the info I want and can,t stop until I do! Wonderful www! I thank you guys for responding. I will post the M21 for sale in the near future (currently still installed) and will send a link if anyone here is interested.
