forth gen, 3.4 openning headers

my 3.4 v6 is proving to be a challenge, has anyone got some info on opening the headers and also does anyone no if its worth doing this, being the 3.4 base engine. I love the car and dont want to upgrade as it took me so long to find one in the conditon its in and having the millage its done, also it was imported from japan, and the speedometor is in km and i think it restriced to 110 mph like there cars are any ideas on this to much appricatted, thanks aaron

Re: forth gen, 3.4 openning headers

what are you trying to accomplish aaron???opening up the exh before the o2 sensor will only serve in making the car run like crap...the o2 is an integral part of fuel mapping in the car, and will probably result in the car running really fat and getting poor fuel mileage...a performance tune might be the better choice, but it wont set the world on fire being the 3.4...you can also get rid of the speed limiter thru a performance tune if not mistaken...

Thanks for your reply, i never gave the 02 sensor a thought to be honest,in your opinon what sort of bhp would i would i get out of the car with a professinal tune bearing in mind there only 160 to start with, and any views on were to start with engine mods, thanks aaron.

Re: forth gen, 3.4 openning headers

Try to look up some old car craft issues online. I think Isaw some stuff in that rag about v-6's in the 4th gens. I am going to step out on limb a little and say they increased the engine by some 10-20 HP.

Also try Chevy High performance, I know for a fact they have run some V-6 mod info in the past.
