Those door protective strips

I don't know the real name. They're the plastic pieces, about an inch wide, that run down the outside of the doors. There are also sections on the fender in front and behind the doors. Anyway...

It looks like mine have seen the edge of a power buffer that rubbed through the paint on the top edges. It exposed the plastic beneath and that has weathered. Regardless, they need attention.

Are these pieces still available from GM or...? I suppose I could tape off the area and give them some TLC, but the exposed plastic looks pretty rough. It picks up wax, etc. and is easily discolored. It just ruins the looks.

What do you guys think?

Re: Those door protective strips

They are called "body side moldings"

Still listed from GM, but they have black paint to match or teal, no other colors.

Re: Those door protective strips

Body side moldings. Duh! That's the term I was searching for. Thanks!

So, ya think it would be better to get new ones and have them painted rather than trying to monkey with the old ones? Do they use double-sided tape to attach to the body?
