Lightbulb Need new tranny!

Hey guys. My stock trans just BIT THE DUST last night. Ive had this thing rebuilt about 7 times already and AAMCO keeps screwing around with it and cant seem to get it right, which brings me to my question. For a 1994 Z28 A4,what would be the best/strongest transmission I could get for around $1,200. Im pushing right around 370 to the rear tires on motor. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...thanx

Re: Need new tranny!

I would take your broke tranny to a good shop and have it rebuilt for your engine/rear combination. The HP you are pushing shouldn't require anything exotic. It should cost less than $1200. You can buy already performance rebuilt ones for not much more - example http://performabuiltautomatics.com/G...00r4_4l60e.htm

Re: Need new tranny!

I don't think you will get much of a trans for 1200, a 4L60E anyway. Are you running a separate trans cooler? The rad can't cool a 4L60E if it has a bigger converter in it. You could build a strong turbo 350 for that but not the 4L60E. A friend of mine has a stage 5 rpm transmission in his car. He's running 11.29 @ 119 with a 450 rwhp setup and he's about to spray it with a 150 shot. They said his trans was good for around 800 rwhp. They have a level 4 that should support 500 rwhp.
