horsepower

what would be the best way to get horsepower from a 1993 chevy camaro with a lt1. it has new rebuilt transmission and new rear end with 3.73 gears. new tires. straight pipe from the cat back. new distributor and new timing chain and timing gears. and k&n air filter. the car is quick but wanting to improve. have seen a lot of different things done to these cars but didn't know which way to turn for better horsepower.

Re: horsepower

LT4 spec heads and a bigger cam. And a tune on the computer.

Late LT1's are great engines, you gotta go deep to get more power.

A tune on what you have now will get ya some, but not a lot.

Re: horsepower

he means get the LT4 heads and a larger cam. then have an ECM chip that has been custom burned to your specific application.
Exhaust and cold air intake is a good start also.

Re: horsepower

A cam alone is worth quite a bit of power. I would start there and move to long tube headers and possibly have the stock heads ported. This should be worth an additional 150hp or so depending on the size of the cam you choose and what work is done to the heads. Keep in mind that stock lower ends don't like going above 6500rpm, so the cam size will be somewhat limited on that. The factory rod bolts stretch allowing the rod bearings to spin when you spin these things too high. A tune is required once you do this, especially on 93s. This is a speed-density car and shares the computers that came in the IROC cars, which means they are not as smart and unable to adapt to modifications like the later years.
