Power Window Help!

Hey there, i have a 99 convertible and i have power window problems
The passenger window works, the auto mirrors and locks work but driver side window wont budge
Anyone have a clue?
I took the door panel off to take a better look, all the wires seem to be attached and the window is on its track
If i were to get a new motor it doesnt look easy to install, the current one seems to be held in by metal rivots with very little room to access/install

If anyone has any experience or suggestions with this it would be greatly appreciated

sorry if this is in the wrong thread, please move if this is the case

thanks,
Pete

Re: Power Window Help!

Swap the two window switches on the drvr side panel. If problem follows, then the pass switch is at fault (came from the drvr switch position).

It is the motor. It is planed obsolescence on GMs behalf. Something like $90 at Pep Boys

Check the window plugs make sure their not coroded. That happend to mine take some sand paper clean it up a bit and check it if not, go to a place and have them put the motor in saves alot of headaches trust me

Re: Power Window Help!

I agree with the dead motor diagnosis, I've done dozens of 4th gen window motors/regulators. If you try to do this repair yourself, that regulator is spring loaded and when you drill out the rivets without securing the regulator from unwinding you WILL loose some skin or even a finger. I agree with Jake take it to someone who knows how to do it and avoid the headaches.

Re: Power Window Help!

I have the same prorblem with my passenger side window. I have a motor I just need it installed. I have totally different problem with my drivers side window. At first it would go up and down but had a hiccup halfway through. Now it seems to be off the track because if I try to let it down it will fall back into the door. I have no clue what is up with that.

I bet the rear roller broke. Can you move the glass in and out at the top when the glass is a 1/4 of the way down?

Yep. It will do that. How hard will it be to fix. Or in other words will it cost alot to have it fixed?
