LT or LS

Hi, I am buying a 99 camaro for a real cheap price. A friend has a 95 5.0 Mustang and I am wanting to spank him. The camaro is a V6 and I am wondering if I should mod it to hell or if I should buy a LT or LS 1. Money is a issue and it isnt. Wife isnt happy but she will get over it, lol. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: LT or LS

Go with an LS1. Many mods available and no Opti-spark to deal with.

Re: LT or LS

I put this post in the 4th gen forum to help you do some research on the subject, just read some of the posts here on the subject. The bottom line is buy a V8 car, you can't buy a V6 cheap enough and convert it to an LS or LT for less than it would cost to buy one with the V8 already in it!

Re: LT or LS

Yep. Conversion cost are very high, and the price of the 4ths gens are relatively low. Only if someone gave you everything you needed would it be worth doing the swap. Skip the V6 car.

Re: LT or LS

LS1 without a doubt. I've owned both. 96 Z28 (LT1) vert 14.02 @ 100 stock (3.23 gears). 2002 Z28 (LS1) 13.64 @ 104 stock (2.73 gears). Both were/are A4.

You be the judge.

2.73 gear in a stock '02 Z28? My '99 SS came with a Auburn high torgue diff. that was 3.42, I know that was an option, but I'm suprised that a Z would come with a 2.73! The things you learn while online!

I gotta agree with the majority though, V-8 '98-'02 are cheap enough to warrant buying the LS motor with the car and skipping all the problems with changing over.

PS. I'm now the proud owner of a 3.73 rear end due to unfortunate circumstances occuring with the old rear end.....if you play, be prepared to pay!!!
