DTC 26 and blown Air Pump fuse

Hello,

I have a 93 Z-28 (stock as far as I know) and just recently got it back on the road after sitting for some time.

The only trouble code I get is DTC 26. It is set after the Air pump fuse blows. I have replaced the fuse twice now, but it blows soon after the engine starts.

The shop manual procedure wants you to use a TECH 1 diagnostic tool (which I don't have).

Has anyone fixed this code before without using a TECH 1 device?

Any suggestions as what to look at first?

The AIR pumps would suck in water and burn up, I know on Caddy LT1s there was a
bulletin to eliminate the air pump, check there may be one for Chevy.

Re: DTC 26 and blown Air Pump fuse

try unplugging the air pump if the fuse doesn't blow it may be the pump is shot. If it still blows you may well have a dead short popping the fuse. Check for anything else on that cicuit that could also be bad or shorted. Truthfully a tech1 won't do you any good anyway cause the fuse is blowing with the key on so it wont have any power to it to mess with the air pump thru the scan tool anyway.

Thanks bighass79, I unplugged it and the fuse survived. I'll live with the code for now.
