Craigslist

This popped up on my craigslist alerts. I already have a car, but was curious about the car. It says 327 325hp, I was assuming that it was a 396 car. The dash looks like my SS350, so I was assuming it is an SS, but the cowl tag has ZERO options.

Just curiosity, thoughts?

Re: Craigslist

327 325hp?

Sounds like wishful thinking on the sellers part.

The only reason someone would want insurance is if they want to pay someone elses bills or want someone else to pay their bills.

Re: Craigslist

Pretty decent CLONE with the chrome under the hood making it look like an SS350. 325 from the venerable 327 isn't hard to believe. Ever heard of an L79 ? It was the hot 327 from the mid 60's factory rated at 350 hp with hydraulic cam. The solid lifter version was a few ponies more !

I see it now in pic 9, says 327 275. But, there is still no options? Weren't the early L30 listed as SS?

Wait, what do you mean a clone? So this isn't a real Camaro? Or it's a real Camaro but made to look like an SS350?

Re: Craigslist

No 327's were SS. It's a real nice 327-275 hp - at least he's made it to look that way.

It has a factory tach and the gauges above the console might be factory too ?
Or he added them.

The water heater hoses are smallblock. Radiator is not original.

I would make sure the 4 speed is a muncie ; if not (a saginaw) it might have been a 210 hp 327.

But it's not in Dallas, it's in Minneapolis.

It appears to be a nice car. Need to see it on a lift.

Nah, that's a craigslist thing for viewers to report ads that are scams.

Made to look like an SS350. Correct (for SS350) valve covers and air cleaner, badges, etc...

Can't see it very well, but pic 10 looks like a 350 sticker on the air cleaner.

An 11B build wouldn't have the 4P cowl tag code for L30 as it wasn't used until the Dec66-Jan67 timeframe. There would be no code at all for L30 in Nov. Yep, kinda odd to not have any options, but more common with early builds such as this.

Hard to say if it's an L30 as I can't detect (see) "double humps" on the heads and L30 didn't have any of the chrome items under the hood. It does appear to have the factory 4bbl int. manifold.

L30 had a Saginaw, same as LF7 (210 hp). Muncie was only used (factory installed)with SS or Z/28.

Mine is a 11A and it has 4P (but is supposed to be SS350), I guess you are saying L30 would have 4P if in Dec-Jan?

Re: Craigslist

John, yeah, that's when they (the factories) began using 4P for the L30/M20 as well as L48 which began earlier.

Thanks Jon, I didn't quite catch the double humps. Does that sticker look like 350 or 327 to you ? No mention in the ad if the engine/heads are original anyway....
