1967 L30/M20 restomod with TKO 5-speed

Looks like what is probably an L30/M20 car originally. Seller never states for certain if it still retains its original 327, or if it had the 275 HP engine, but the 4P code on the tag and the 12-bolt, along with 4-speed strongly suggest that it was one originally. Seller has swapped in a TKO and modern seats. Car was orignally GG, seller claims black paint was applied by Boyd Coddington's former painter. Could be a neat little restomod if the bidding stays reasonable. Musclecars on BAT can sometimes be grabbed at a bargain, so worth watching.

Didn't know the buyer fee on BAT was 5% and the put a hold on your credit card when you bid.

Quote:
When bidding, we place a hold on your card for 5% of your initial bid amount with a minimum hold of $250 and maximum of $5000. Should you win the auction, that hold will be converted to a charge. If not, the hold will be released immediately at auction end. It can sometimes take a few days for your bank to release the funds.

The last pic shows the bracket still on the PS of the 12 bolt that would have had the bar running back to forward leaf mount. Specific to L30/M20 cars

Now it has CalTrax bars

My observation of BaT over time is there is a lack of Camaro expertise present. We should "help" them.

Well, to be fair, they have a much broader audience over there than we have here on TC. Probably a lot of guys who can offer expertise on Porsches and MG's. I do my best to shine my Camaro flashlight into the darkness.

It's also a reason that I am not sure it is the best venue to sell a musclecar. However, a 69 Chevelle SS that needed a LOT of work recently sold there for VERY good money, so who knows?

That bracket was not specific to L30/M20 cars. It was on all 67 Camaros with a 12 bolt after the mid year introduction of the radius rod.

Interesting..... group 5 on the tag has a special option code, the only thing I know about these is this line from the CRG:

Fleet and Special Order (F&SO) codes (e.g. L181A) were also stamped in this area of the tag by both factories to indicate a special vehicle order. In most cases, these special orders were special paint instructions.

Re: 1967 L30/M20 restomod with TKO 5-speed

Been doing a little more reading. This car's SoCal location and the special paint codes often correlate with cars ordered by Clippinger or Dana in 1967, some of which received big block upgrades....

I'm sure some folk here or on CRG would know more about this, but seems like a cool find to me.

Re: 1967 L30/M20 restomod with TKO 5-speed

Looks more like O-O (special paint) than G-G to me. Hard to say if there's anything more special to it than that. Say's it originally had a Muncie so it would've been an SS350, NOT an L30/M20.

Charley's 68 Dana 427 was born an SS350.

Re: 1967 L30/M20 restomod with TKO 5-speed

in nearly the last post, just before what looks like shill bidding showed up, the seller states it was originally a saginaw.

67RSSS......owned since 69. A basket case for most of it.

I quoted the same to the seller, but he came back and said that it had the Saginaw and 327 originally. He apparently knows the original owner of the car, and is familiar with its history. He did state in the ad copy that the SS emblems had been added. So based on the 4P code and the 12-bolt (which he said is original), can we make a reasonable assumption that this car was born an L30/M20? He never confirmed if the car had a 2bbl or 4bbl, but I wouldn't expect the 210 HP engine to have the 12-bolt, unless that group-5 code means it had the 12-bolt special ordered. He did say that it has a 3:73 gear, which was not a standard gear.

Re: 1967 L30/M20 restomod with TKO 5-speed

Looks like some bidding weirdness might be going on - last two consecutive bids by bidders with the exact same user-id, with the exception of the first letter. Interesting.

It would seem so, however the safest assumption I come away with is the seller doesn't entirely know what he's talking about and lacks credibility.

What do you think of the paint code on the trim tag ? O-O or G-G ? Sellers description still claims gold and hasn't changed that yet ?

Re: 1967 L30/M20 restomod with TKO 5-speed

Doesn't the presence of L263A correlate with the O-O for custom paint? Doesn't look like G-G to me at all when I zoom in...
