1967 Black Panther one owner documented

Looks like Bob Simonen's Black Panther is going to auction.

What do you think will it bring at auction?

I can appreciate the car is rare, but it doesn't do anything for me. Really don't like the gold interior.

I tend to agree, but it's hard to say what's gonna happen at an auction on an extremely rare car like this. I doubt reserve will be met. Probably why he chose Mecum over Barrett-Jackson....

Wasn't the Camaro originally going to be "Panther"? Nice rare care worth what it will bring, maybe fifty or there abouts.

It's going to bring whatever the free drinks will provide.

It's rare, it's interesting to look at and it appears to be a top notch restoration.

After that, it's just another rare, interesting, top notch restoration.

The jist of the Yenko thread is that the owners feel the car is worth 250K, and the Yenko guys think it's worth about double what a non Panther Camaro with similar options would be. That puts it at 50-75K

Re: 1967 Black Panther one owner documented

Rare does not always equate to value.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

For me I see a Plain Jane low performance car with an undesirable color interior and a few goofy switches the do nothing in the console.

$35ish to me maybe another $10k-$15k if somebody's in love with it.

At auction unless 2 or more people have a hard want for it it's not gonna hit a big number.

Re: 1967 Black Panther one owner documented

Well its a "auction" so anywhere from $25-$250k is "possible"....but in the end this is a base model 327, 2 brl, PG car with some cosmetic add-ons making it unique aka Black Panther edition

I see the inner fender rubber dust flaps are not installed....

Is this a no reserve auction? If so I would think it will be well below $250K.

Mecum Actions does allow "reserve" listings....IDK if this car does have a reserve.

I agree it won't hit anywhere near $250k

Good catch on the missing dust flaps Roger. This cars probably going to be attractive to a
collector only. Very narrow buyers pool due to lack of performance options.

It is a Reserve Auction.

If it was NR it would be advertised.

I sold my Chevelle at Mecum last year I had a reserve. Once you're on the block you get a feel for reality and can chose to lower the reserve to make a deal or not.

You always hope for Big money. When mine got close to reserve Mecum cut my fee and the deal was made very close to what I wanted.

Reality is that if it doesn't sell the high bid placed, will in most future bidders minds, be the benchmark they will use in valuing the car at any future auction.
