Value of '69 Restomod

Looking for opinions on the value of the '69 restomod below listed near me. I'd like to buy a car that's done but want to pay a fair price obviously. Seller seems motivated and willing to negotiate. The builder listed in CT seems to be legit although I can't find much info on him. The dealer it was bought from looks to have horrible reviews. Thanks.

Re: Value of '69 Restomod

Not a bad price. Look like it rack and pinion which IMO is a negative. But rest of parts are high quality.

Would need to inspect to confirm body and paint are in 9+ condition.

Re: Value of '69 Restomod

TMI Sport Seat upholstery looks good, however it appears to have a straight bar headrest on the drivers side and curved bar on passenger side ? Possible rust blisters on he lower passenger door ? Tail panel would look much better if the bottom (below bumper) was blue....

Otherwise I defer to John on the value as he has the experience with this type of build.

Hate the lower rear valance black paint. It is hideous imho... Similar opinion of houndstooth seats with standard door panels....

Car is overpriced imho.

You can easily repaint and add deluxe door panels.

Car appears to have a good list of quality parts that are not cheap.

Would need to inspect to confirm body and paint are in 9+ condition.

The items Don points out can be used to negotiate a better price.

I agree with Garth and Don. Too many things I don't like on this car to pay that price. But as I say " When your name is on the title"
If you like the looks of it as it sits make him an offer. I spoke to a guy recently that bought a square body pick up for pennies on the dollar because he offered the seller $10,000 on a truck for sale at $70,000. He bought it for 17,500.

It's funny - I kind of like the standard panels with the houndstooth...

Re: Value of '69 Restomod

Deluxe door panels means new window regulators and door lock mechanisms etc. Itís not as trivial as it sounds.

Matching that metallic blue paint on the lower valance would require some effort too.

For $59k Iíd want an aftermarket subframe and a four link. Certainly not a rack conversion with all the associated downsides.

True, true. Yet to be determined how disappointed I will be. Probably this coming spring if I had to guess...

I donít mind the standard panels with Houndstooth either. Regs and door mechanisms are not very expensive if a guy wanted to change.

Most likely for me the R&P would have to go.

The things mentioned like door panels, headrests lower tail panel paint would all be used to negotiate a better price if a guy liked the car.

The ZZ502 and the 6 speed are a plus I like the Ford 9Ē and the Baer Brakes.

Re: Value of '69 Restomod

Car is $40-$45k tops. Gotta have something special for a 69 Camaro to be worth $60k IMO.

Re: Value of '69 Restomod

Thanks guys. He told me $50k was his bottom line, but came down quickly without me even seeing the car and said he was motivated to sell. I offered him $40k as a starting point and sent him some similar cars and what they sold/were listed for locally. I think I offended him although that wasn't my intention so looks like a no go for now. If it sits for sale for a while I'll revisit. I thought even $50k was high with the leaf spring rear end and terrible reviews from the original shop it was purchased from. Are there services to help me inspect a car correctly? Or is it best to try to find a local mechanic? I'm most concerned with unseen rust, etc. that I'm not sure how to check for.

Re: Value of '69 Restomod

There are several resources: www.roadreadyinspections.com as well as www.autoappraisal.com/prepurchase.html

Nobody wants to get taken advantage of, but also, the price is somewhat dependent upon what you are comfortable paying and what has been spent.

I might get a quarter panel for $275 versus you paid $350 - plus install, my price might be $1,000 and yours might be $2,000.

Just like the engine - Engine and Transmission $15K - High performance speed shop install might be $2,500 - but another shop might have only been $1,000.

Buying it for you or for investment might be a bigger question.
