78 Z28 Hurricane wheels

Hello and happy new year to all the Camaro lovers out there.

I have a set of aluminum Hurricane wheels on my 78 Z28 - and I would like to know how to clean them up - there is no paint or other material on them - its just that the aluminum surfaces are very dull and dirty looking. I tried a good scrub with soapy water and a bristle brush and that did nothing !!

Re: 78 Z28 Hurricane wheels

I used a scotch brite pad on my old car. it took off the oxidation, then I polished with mothers aluminum mag paste. It seemed like it took forever and my fingers were black (wear gloves) for a week. They almost looked chrome when I was done. I hated those wheels but could not afford new ones. You can even paint the center of the spokes before the scotch brite pad and that will leave a clean edge with no overspray on the wheel face.

The only pic of that car was when I brought it home for the first time
