67 Camero SS ??

Hi,
I'm new to this forum but looking for some help with a car I bought. I was told it was a SS but based on the cowl tag, I'm not sure. Can anyone help me intrepret these numbers from the cowl?

03B E
ST 67-12437 NOR 89029 Body
TR 756-H K-K PAINT
W 3SK

That's all that's on the tag. Looks like some numbers are missing, but I was told the earliest 67's did not have the last row of numbers. Can anyone validate this one way or the other? Is there any way to determine if this really is an SS and what the original engine size was? It has all the SS markings and a 12-bolt rear end and it has a split-bench front seat. I appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks,
RL

Re: 67 Camero SS ??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you need a 4P on a '67 tag.

I don't think it is an SS.

Re: 67 Camero SS ??

I guess it depends on the date for NOR cars

Check this out: http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-ca...ecode-1967.asp

Location M - Option Information (4)
F - remote mirror
K - 396/375 L78
L - 302 Z28
N - 396/325 HP
P - correct code for SS 350 (Early LOS but not added on NOR SS's until Oct.)

With an 03B build date, maybe it is. It sounds like it has all the right equipment.

Cool Re: 67 Camero SS ??

03 = March, B = 2nd Week
TR 756 = Black Standard Bench Seat
KK = Emerald Turqouise paint color
W = Tinted Windshield
3S = Interior Decor Group, P = Style Trim Group

Original Engine? Correct engine would be a 350ci or a 396 ci. Try this site for some good info.... http://www.camaros.org/diffs67.shtml Without original motor or docs, no codes on cowl tag - u have a standard.. I have never heard that early Norwood cars didn't have codes, But possible - I guess. You would normally find a 4P - for 350ci or 327 - 275hp w/4 speed, 4L - 302ci, 4N - 396 - 325hp, 4K - 396 -375hp

Re: 67 Camero SS ??

Its not an SS, its a 327/210HP base coupe with a 3 speed manual transmission.

Re: 67 Camero SS ??

03B isn't exactly an early build. No "4P" means a 327/210 at best. The VIN would confirm a V8 car. The lack of an "M" in the 2nd position indicates a 3-speed manual and the lack of a "B" indicates it's a column shift. I'm pretty sure your car is not an SS.

67 Camaro: 454/TH400/4.10 12 bolt. Lots of options: PS/PDB/PW, tilt, tach, gauges and more. K-K + 797-Z...

Re: 67 Camero SS ??

"The 4P code was not used at the start of production at either the Van Nuys plant or the Norwood plant. Van Nuys started using the 4P code on the SS350 cars in September, but Norwood didn't start using the 4P code until October. Early Van Nuys SS350 cars and Norwood SS350 cars built before October will not have the 4P code to verify that they are SS's." Camaro Research Group www.camaros.org
