Exhaust manifold heat shields

Help! Do 1968 350-295HP 4-speed cars have the same exhaust manifold heat shield set-ups as the automatics? (snorkel air cleaner with stove pipe to exhaust manifold shield). When I look in the Chevrolet BY the Numbers book it indicates that that standard transmission exhaust manifold had the A.I.R. (smog I guess) but the automatics did not. Does this mean all 4-speed small blocks should have a smog set-up? And will it have the stove pipe set-up? Or are original small block 4-speed cars supposed to have an open element air cleaner and not the snorkel? Trying to make my car as correct as possible.
Thanks, Bruce

Re: Exhaust manifold heat shields

As I remember, the low performance engines used the heat stove set-up where as the higher performance used the A.I.R.with the pump. I'm sure you'll get some added response to this.
