Unhappy help?camaro only starts once in a while

daughter has a 95 with a 2 year old crate motor. car ran good for a year or more. has been nothing but problems. right now, it starts, then doesn't start. you just cant count on it. m otor is a 350, automatic tranny. any ideas? just tried jumping it and that didnt help. the car had been sitting for 4 hours and when she came back an hour after trying to start it, it fired right up. thanks, mom in wisconsin, daughter in florida!

Vicki , to get some good answers to this problem which no doubt will happen again try the " Troubleshooting " section or " Engine " section

ps. I'm about a one hour ride from you to the north and welcome to the best Camaro site on earth.

Re: help?camaro only starts once in a while

Does the engine crank, but no run?
Does the car have VATS? The resistor chip in the key?

If there is VATS, it could be the key socket in the steering wheel.

A test to verify would be to attempt to start the car. If no start, as in there are headlights but no starter motor, engine does not crank, then turn off car and remove the key used.

Wait 3-4 minutes, then attempt to start again with the same key. Chances are, the engine will start. If the car passes this test, I suspect the key socket in the steering wheel will need changing. Repair shop or dealer fix with ownership papers (registration).

Let us know what happens, Mom.
