New guy

Hello all,
I've been searching for a reasonably price first gen project for about 5 years now and found it last month. Search for information on it, I found this site and I’m overwhelmed with all the post, photos and information. I’m hooked!!!!

Re: New guy

I can't decide, I want to stay original but the numbers do not match. So does it matter at that point? What would you do? Anyone else have any thoughts? Thanks,

Re: New guy

If you go repro, stick with stuff that you can unbolt, although it's getting tougher to get orig all the time. The orig usually fits better and is of better material...in most cases.

And.. welcome to the crew!

Brad,Welcome to Team Camaro. That '68 looks to be in very good condition so whatever direction you choose whether original or modified, that's gonna be one nice 1st Gen..

I think with this car I would keep it original to get more bang out of you buck.
Listen to me this doesn't sound right coming from a guy that cut his car in half. You could always get another one after you get this one finished and go another route.... Which ever you decide dont rush it and I wish you well....

Re: New guy

Thanks for the input. I think that I'm going to stay original. I'll keep you update has the restoration progresses.

In the mean time, I will continue to lurk the site, ask questions and save my pennies for a complete floor pan.

Re: New guy

Looks like you have something good to work with there, Brad. Guess your persistence paid off in finding a good project. Are those some kind of hornets' nests or something in the engine bay? I think I'd clean those off first. haha.

And I'd definitely stay original. You never know, one day you might find the original engine or whatever is missing.

Re: New guy

I thought removed most of the hornets’ nest before starting the motor. Guess I should have looked in the fan. The exploding hornets’ nest was a surprise for 3 of guys standing around the motor. Good Times!!!!
