I guess I'm the newest Noob.

Hello people.
I am just beginning to restore my 1967 Camaro. She's my first car, and I purchased it way back in 1982. She was a great car to tool around and cause trouble in back in High School, but she's been in storage since 1992. From 86 to 92, she was in and out of storage due to my college years, so I've really only been able to drive her for about 5 or 6 years.

She's been on my mind for restoration for several years now, but I haven't had the money or the place to take on the project. (see http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/jour...94&action=view) That's a little more history on the car.

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I wrecked my Audi daily driver and decided not to replace it. Instead I'll drive my old truck and put my insurance money into my old friend, the 1967 Camaro.

My plans are to change the suspension for better handling, upgrade the rear-end and drop a crate motor in her. When I'm done there, I'll save up some more money for paint. Her interior is dated, but still in good shape, so upholstry will have to wait.

Suspension will be my first task, but I don't know where to start. I hope the members here will give me some good advice on upgrades. If this has been the topic of recent discussions, please point me to the threads.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to getting to know you all.

H.

I still have my first car.

Thanks, I will. I've spent all afternoon reading about suspension and brake upgrades. It's going to take me a looooooong time to catch up on all this reading!

Welcome to TC Herby. As I'm sure you've found out there is a wealth of information on here. Just about everything I had a question about I found somewhere on this site. Mine like yours had been stored. Mine for 17 years. (put it in the shop for Hurricane Andrew and there it lived,) I've been at it for about 15 months now when I get a chance. Swapped a small block for a big block. Pulled the frame, replaced every steering, and suspension component. Just today put new rear springs in, hung the rear axle, and got the wheels on. It got to see sunshine for the first time in all those years when I drove it out in the yard so I could turn it around in the shop, then put it back inside. I still have a little body work to do, then replace the interior. It was good just to have it move under it's own power. Good luck with yours.

Yes it is. It is a 2001 FXDL. We bought it on ebay from a guy in NY that had only ridden it 1400 miles. I drove up to Buffalo over a long weekend and picked it up. I think my wife has put around 12,000 miles on it. Once we got the convertible, she quit riding as much.
