New the site from NJ

Hello everyone. I am a 1st generation camaro fan and am looking to buy a 67-69 restored. I cannot work on them and I am not handy, so I have to buy the finished project. I just want to have one to take out on the weekends. Can I buy a frame off with a 457 to drive on weekends or is that not worth it? Will a car like that be able to be taken out to put 1000-2000 miles a year? I don't want to have a car just to sit in the garage, but I want it to look like it should only be sitting in the garage. Anyway, I am educating myself on the car and I hope I can get some help here. Thanks
Serg

Welcome Serg from another NJer. You can make any 1st gen Camaro reliable and be a weekend cruiser. A turn key 1st gen car is pleasant myth as even with the best resto, they always need something and you will have to learn how to work on it or spend $$$ A lot of us here have tried to buy good cars only to find lots of hidden issues. read up, do your homework, get opinions here on any car you are looking to buy. Everyone here will give you the straight scoop. Have fun!

Whats a 457? A bored out 454? IMO the best engines for Camaros are the stroked small blocks, cause you get more TQ and HP without the weight and expense of a BB.

Welcome to Team Camaro...BBC is the way to go for me.It depends on HP,trans ,and gear if it will be considered a distance driver or a short hop car.My car is around 500hp th400 with 389 rear with 31" tires. It runs 60 at 2800 rpm.

Re: New the site from NJ

Welcome to the Site. Good luck with your search, Sergio. Are you perhaps looking for a 454 Camaro? Maybe 457 was a typo. They (454) were not available in the first gens so you would to look for one that was added at a later date - non-original.

As you see, there are several of us New Jerseyer's here. Enjoy.
