Re: Hello, first time camaro owner

Welcome, Tony, and congrats to you & your spouse for the soon new arrival.

Be sure the replacement trans is for a V6 as different bolt patterns bewteen a V6 & V8.
From your other post, the usual, check shift linkage adjustment and condition of the oil.

Welcome,

New here too. I also have a 3rdGen Camaro. They are a lot of fun. If you stay up on the little things, they are a good daily driver.

Re: Hello, first time camaro owner

So the bolt pattern between the 700r4 differs from the v8 to the v6?? would the bolt pattern on a astro v6 be the same as the camaro v6?? or say from a s10

Re: Hello, first time camaro owner

2.8L, 3.1L, & 3.4L have one bolt pattern; 4.3L V6 (SBC V8 with two cylinders cut off) & SBC & BBC have a different bolt pattern.

Re: Hello, first time camaro owner

so if i purchased a trans from say a astro would I be able to swap bellhousings and make it work or would there be more to it than that? I am actually thinking of a 4.3 vortec swap just simply due to the lighter wieght and fuel efficiency over a sbc

Re: Hello, first time camaro owner

Bellhousing and case are one piece. I you get a 4.3L V6, any SBC trans will bolt up.

Re: Hello, first time camaro owner

Hasn't been done I know of, did not come stock, but with scrap steel plate, 1/4 inch thick, oxy/acy torch and welder, anything is possible.
