Long time owner, new to forums

Just wanted to say hello to the Camaro forums.

Iíve been browsing this forum for a little while and decided it was time to join up and get in the modern information pool. Iím just another aging gear head who has a long history of building muscle cars with a preference for Chevyís. Been a Camaro owner on and off since 1982 with a couple of models in my past. Iíve owned my current 1967 RS now for over 21 years. I completely restored the car in 1990 and built it into a show rod to run the Midwest car show circuit during the 90ís. World of Wheels, Car Craft, Super Chevy, Hot Rod, you name it. After earning some trophies over a few years I got sick of car shows and the car is now mostly a boulevard cruiser 'attitude adjustment' with the occasional romp down the ľ mile. The car has held together exceptionally well over the years and gets driven every summer. I bought a house 6 years ago and have been so busy with that the car got parked and covered for a while. In 2008 I decided to take it back out and drove it back and forth to the 2008 GoodGuys Show weekend at Route 66 Speedway in Joliet, where I drove it 40 miles each way and then ran the NASCAR track WOT without a hiccup. It was a blast and I was proud to say the car has held together very well over the years and still looks fresh. Bringing it back out and going to GoodGuys was sort of a revival for it but since then Iíve realized I need to go through it and make sure it is still holding together and safe.

Iíve been going through it with a fine toothed comb during the winter for its 20 year anniversary and have been making some changes. I built the car in my late 20ís and back then my ideas and skills for a reliable supercharged street car are not what I would prefer today. As I go through the car I am finding some areas that could use some improvement.

Anyway, I'll probably need help updating some areas as I go along. I hope to make some new friends here. Iíve been a member of the Impala.net forums for a couple of years so thatís how I found this place. This is the first forum Iíve ever signed with for my Camaro. When I built this car there was no internet to turn to. It was all books or bench racing at the track. OK now I feel old. ;-)

Thanks,
Scott

Re: Long time owner, new to forums

Hey thanks. I interested in upgrading some areas of the rear suspension for better traction, better exhaust system and also looking to change wheels and tires. The car is a little outdated. Lots to read here.

Re: Long time owner, new to forums

Thanks for the welcomes-

So looks like there's a little rivalry here between 67 and 68 owners.

Yeppers- Nice 68! -so how often do you get the question: "is that even street legal"?

I had to laugh at Gary Dyers 20 some years ago when I bought the set up and he told me; "you know, if you drill out the drives the belt won't make so much noise." My expression was no doubt one of confusion as I thought "who would want to do that?"
