Owned 67 for 27 years, just started a ground up resto.

Hey guys,

Let me start by saying I've been looking through this site for years. The information and willingness to help each other out has been inspiring. I am happy to finally join in.

I have owned my plain jane 67 coupe since the summer of 83. In 85 I had all 4 corners replaced and then had it painted. I have since repainted it 2 more times but now the sheetmetal needs replacement again. I purchased it in Canada and I lived there until 97 so there is a lot of rust in the floor/trunk area.

I have the car completely stripped except for the wiring and motor/trans/subframe is still bolted to the car at the moment. The glass is out and the seams to the roof have been exposed. As you can guess, I am replacing just about everything.

I am replacing the floors, trunk pan, quarters, adding DSE mini tubs, fenders, hood, roof, and tailpan. Most likely I'll find some other things to replace along the way.

I have placed my order at Firewheel Classics here locally and will be picking up all the sheetmetal Thursday or Friday depending on my work schedule and when they have the order pulled.

I am going for a modernized (flush mounted glass and tail lights) but stock look with some pro touring upgrades and probably a more modern interrior -- seats, dash from a 2010 Camaro or ???, have not decided on that yet.

I already have a brand new TKO 600 installed in the car (replaced a T56 that I kept breaking). I would like to build a 454 stroker small block but 15K on a motor would eat up too much of my budget so I'll probably settle for something smaller in size but around 5-600hp. But if I win the lottery ....

Anyways, lots of work and lots of sheetmetal questions to follow.

Thanks in advance,

Randy

Yeah, workin on that. I have "glory days" but they are no longer accurate. I just picked up the sheetmetal today so I had to move a bunch of stuff around in the garage to store it. I will get it cleaned up in the next few days so I can get some pictures of the current condition.

ALSO, anyone know anything about the AMD full quarters? I had them ordered in because I heard they were thicker than the other ones out there but I don't really know. The cost an extra $90 per quarter so if they are not any better I'll exchange them for another brand.

Thanks Guys, I'll get you some pics asap.

Welcome to the site!

I don't know about the 2010 model but I do know you can swap a complete 4th gen dash (with minor tweaking), console and seats into a 1st gen.

And I must say: Congratz on choosing the only "real" year for a 1st gen...

67 Camaro: 454/TH400/4.10 12 bolt. Lots of options: PS/PDB/PW, tilt, tach, gauges and more. K-K + 797-Z...
