Hi from South Africa

Hi, I'm Tony (24), from Johannesburg, South Africa. Im currently restifying a 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible. So far I've done all the work myself, from rebuilding the engine, to replacing the floorpans and Im now working on the body.

Ill be sure to post some pics soon.

Re: Hi from South Africa

Good to see A Springbox....
So who is going to win next Sat? The ABs or Springbox?
Last couple gtames, very suprising, the SBs....normally a force to be reconed with..the play ok , but seem to be lacking in motivation of committment....
Thery arent doing what took the ABs down a few yrs back...get the PC correct modern motivation so called specialists in...instread of good old fashsioned, "you represent your country, you are the best of the best, you have the priverledge to weat the springbox or silver fern on your chest, now just do it.

Really do hope the SBs get up to speed this weekend....give the ABs a good run for their money...but not win lol.

Re: Hi from South Africa

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys

Doug G, for a 1% handling fee, sure, why not

Steptoe, Im not really into rugby, but thanks for the effort

I've had the car for 8 years now, It was previously a parts car for a 1968 Firebird 400 convertible. Lots of parts missing, including the entire power top, no engine/box & completely rotten floorpans, but the body 'seemed' straight, thanks to tons of bondo. If only I had a magnet on me

Re: Hi from South Africa

You guys have holdens over there right...the chevy statesman etc
There are a hell of a lot of parts interchangeable/ indentical from the HK HT HQ and HZ models with 1st gens...
suspension, brake, chassis donuts, door locks etc.

Re: Hi from South Africa

Hi Steps, yes we do have Holdens, usually with different names to the Aussies. Mostly Chevy, rather than Holden.
I once fitted a Chevy deVille suspension on a Pontiac GTO

I bought a new car, several months ago, a 1970 Buick Skylark custom 2dr coupe, needs work though, ive got it stripped right now.

The "chevy" statesman is the identical car to the holden statesman iun Aussie and NZ....except for the 69 camaro bowtie grill badge on the statesman grill.
And the chassis donuts, locks etc are also 69 camaro
Do u have the equiviemt of the hoden HQ?
The wheel bearings, disc are interchangable but the stub axles need a slight mod, and the calipars on the 69 camaro very diffferent.
The only thing interchanfeable in the steering column is the nut holding the steering wheel on
