Question about a 69 Convertible rear window

I was installing a convertible top on my 69 Camaro. It's a 2 piece top and I have a question about the vinyl at the ends of the rear window, near the quarter glasses. Where the ends come around to the rear bow. Does the ends of the rear window panel glue to the top or left loose? If left loose do you trim? I bought the top and the instruction says to use your old top as reference. My old top was in bad shape and almost completely gone when I got the car.
