Newbie from the PNW

Hello,
I've been browsing the forum for awhile and figured it was time to join. I've been working on a 68 Island Teal SS BB/Auto car for a little over a year. I got it painted earlier this year and am in the process of rebuilding/restoring the front suspension. The car has 46k original documented miles (tons of original paperwork including paper temporary plates) and was in partially restored condition. Since the engine has never been apart and the car still has the original firewall markings, I only wanted to clean the engine compartment but...now I am considering pulling the motor to do the entire subframe and engine. Anyhow, I'm sure I'll be posting questions soon. I work 2 jobs and have 2 teens in 3 different sports so I may not respond immediately but will do my best.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Jake

as purchased in '09, before cleaning. Can you see in crayon "396" on firewall?

Greetings from Arizona
Nice ride and looks like lots of fun(work)
Take lots of pictures as you go along, helps when you take it apart and forget how it was last month or year.

Re: Newbie from the PNW

Thanks for the many welcomes! And BPOS, I'll will be needing local advice, so I will definately take you up on that.
A little more about the car, I purchased from the second owners family. The original owner was a Dean (or something like that) at a college in Utah and they lived part of the year in Salt Lake and the rest in Belgium, and kept this car here, hence the low miles. The second owner worked as a house keeper for them. Anyhow, it is fun to look at all of the original paperwork, some of which I'll post on a forum later to share. I have the original order form where they checked the options that they wanted. Funny thing is, the car was ordered with a 350 but was delivered with a 396! I'd call that luck! Ordered as a stripper SS. 68 SS BB, Auto, power drum brakes, no rear spoiler, no drip rail trim, rear defrost, and clock in the console. Hubcaps (tri bar style) and whitewalls (i am going to put redlines on it with the original hubcaps) Only 1 repaint.
Anyhow, here are a few as purchased pics.
John
This one shows more firewall markings and you can see the factory motor mount fix with the bracket and cable. I need to find an original style Air injection manifold for the driver's side.

This one is an interior shot the day I brought it home.

And a side view the same day.
