cutting tunnel for 5-speed?

Hi everyone. My name is Stacy and I am addicted to Camaros. Current project is swapping out the factory auto to a TKO 600 in my 69'. Got to the point where I have to cut the tunnel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am picking up a 4" hole saw that I read is needed but is there a stincel available? I will not be using a console. Also, apologies if I have posted in the wrong place. Thanks.

Wecome Stacey to TC. I just cut the tunnel on my 69 for the TKO 600. Used a 1 1/8" hole saw for each corner and finished it off from hole to hole with a cut off wheel. Worked well. I used the shift boot trim ring for the template. Using the stock boot, the lower flap of the boot should slip under the tunnel opening. Grind to fit. Hopes this helps.

Definately helps. How did you decide exactly where to make the holes before cutting the opening? I returned the 4" hole saw after reading some more posts and what you did is what I believe is a better way of doing it I just am not sure exactly where or how big...Thanks for your help.

69' DSE front suspension, DSE subframe bushings, 13" Baers, Tree-fitty, TKO 600, Hooker Darkside headers, and is the object of my addiction.
