New to the Camaro world

Hey there everyone. My name's Stephen, I just officially joined the Camaro world early today when I got an '85 for all of $200, and it only being a week after my 20th B-day. I'm really excited because it's always been a dream of mine to own an american muscle car, work on it, and get it all nice performance wise. I hope that ya'll can share some ideas (preferably cheap ones because I am a true broke college kid). I know a little bit about cars and working on them so any ideas would be awesome.

Re: New to the Camaro world

Welcome to TC, Stephen. Gotta love the 3rd Gen Camaro's, they're still affordable. I also have an 85Z sitting in the driveway, but I paid a whopping $600 for it. Post up some pics when you get a chance.

I'm back at school now but once I get home and really get it running, redo the lines on the sides and get it looking a bit better I'll post some more. I love the lipstick red interior though. I paid $200 for it. bought a cheap battery for 60 and as soon as I put half gallon of gas in it, it cranked. Definetly worth my 200!

Re: New to the Camaro world

Welcome! Your starting off better then some of us. My dad built me a 84 Z 5.0 ho car back in mid 90's. I was only 13 at the time, and it was slow. I talked him into selling it and buying me a 88 lx 5.0 mustang lol. I had a 82 Z t top 4 spd car that I just got rid of not to long ago. They are cool cars. My dad bought a Z brand new in 82.

I guess the funny thing is, I've always been big on fords, like I would LOVE to have a mustang but all of my chevy friends give me crap about it and now I can tel them I own a chevy. which I never had anything against chevy I just prefered Ford. But as long as it's american I'm happy.

There is nothing wrong with the big 3. Actually my next car to restore is gonna be a 68-70 road runner. I drive a f150 as a daily my wife drives a mazda which is made by ford, and I drive a 95 f150 as a daily work truck. I was raised around all sorts of muscle cars, so I have nothing against any thing. Now back from 97-08 I hated chevys until I got my 67 and 98 LS1. I learned to respect chevy again. But really though, they all make good products. Now Dodge now Diesel trucks with the 4.7 is iffy I had a 03 4.7 and it cracked the heads at 38k. But like I said every brand has there issues. My wifes 08 cobalt we bought new had tons of small issues, but it was a good car all in all until it was totalled late last year.

Re: New to the Camaro world

yea I understand. I mean My first vehicle was an '84 Chevy suburban with a 454. then I had/have my '90 F-150 that i love but its mainly a work truck around the farm. and I just gave my mom the car ive been driving now for a year or so my '01 Grand prix. so I've gone backed and forth a little bit.
