Hi all

Hi everyone,

my name is Laurens and I'm from Belgium.
For 2 years I own a 69 Camaro ss396. always has been my dreamcar, today it still is.

It was not easy to find a 69 camaro in Belgium, I had to search 2 years for it! With success!

Over the years I've spent a lot of money but it was worth it! emblems, engine parts, chrome, radio, exhaust, books, diecasts, etc...

I try to keep it as original as possible which is not easy. The first pictures show the car the way I bought it. but the cowl tag tells me it had a black standard interior and LeMans Blue exterior color.. I don't want to spend money on these things because I like the camaro the way I bought it...

The cowl tag exterior trim code says "E291". And I don't know what this stands for..
That's why I joined this TC... For some answers I cannot get from our Belgian forums...

Off course I also joined TC for learning and watching other peoples camaros

That's kinda my story about a big important part of my life!

some more details about my camaro:

- automatic transmission th350
- 396 bbc (i don't know how many Hp because i can't read the entire engine code)
- rochester quadrajet 4bbl (7041211 IT 0611 => this type I also can't find in my Chilton book?)

Here are some pictures, starting with original "for sale" pictures from america, and some recent pictures taken at an oldtimer gathering... I want to show some more pics but it looks like I already reached the limit..

If anyone notices something(original, not original, something else) about the pictures, please share it with me because I want to learn as much as possible about the/my 69 camaro..

First off - Welcome to Team CAMARO

Congratulations on finding and buying the car of your dreams.
Looks like your having fun finding parts and fixing it up!

You can post up your vehicles numbers in the "Tag Team" section and lots of folks can help you with the numbers.

I'll try to answer just a few you've asked about;
As far as the "code" you're talking about - I'm gonna guess your trim tag indicates LOS/VN as your car was originally built in the Los Angeles/Van Nuys assembly plant.
That "E291" you see is an internal GMAD production sequence code, for the 291st scheduled vehicle on 5th day (E) of that production period (generally close to a month, but not exactly).
You're VIN number should also have an "L" in the sequence to indicate this.

If you can clean off the pad on the front of the engine you may be able to find the original assembly Suffix markings - these will tell you the original engine confiquration for that engine.

The carb you have (#7041211) is a 1971 Rochester Q-Jet with an assembly date code of 0611 or the 61st day of 1971.

Where abouts in Belgium are you?
Are there any other Camaro owners in your area?

I was always pleased by the number and selection of claasic cars I would see at local faires and shows - you guys sure know how to maintain a vehicle over there

Been to Antwerp a few times (did you know they assembled a few Camaros there? - http://www.camaros.org/foreign.shtml#antwerp ).
Used to do quite a bit work in Netherland - mainly Eindhoven and Amsterdam areas ... weekend trips were often to Belgium for some good - still love a good Bières d'Abbaye when I can find them over here

Re: Hi all

Ghent city!
It's funny hearing that you guys love our beer!

Why wouldn't you like it? it has an alcohol percentage of minimum 8°, you drink 3 of them and you're all =>

I didn't know about the Antwerp factory, but again, I learned something today!

We have some 68 camaros in the area, and believe it or not, in al those years I still haven't seen a 69 camaro!! Muscle cars are kinda rare in Belgium. You see them a lot at shows but not that much on the streets... (too bad)

maybe that's why you think we're good at maintaining our cars? because most of them don't drive them on the streets?

also, oldtimers aren't always appeciated over here because of the emissions and they cost a lot of money... also the government isn't making it very easy to own and drive an oldtimer over here...
The bright side of the story is, that all of this makes us more unique

Young or old (even grandma and grandpa) are looking when you're driving trough the streets.

In America, do you always get noticed when you drive by with your camaro?
