New Guy Here

Hey Fellas (and ladies),
Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I have a 67 Camaro RS and I'm finally getting into the financial straights to show her the love she deserves.

The car has had some bad luck since I got it, Keyed on the first day I owned it, egged, hit by a shopping cart, then hit but an uninsured motorist. All that bad luck plus low funds forced me to keep her garaged for regrettably too long. A recent trade offer sparked some sense into my head so now I'm undertaking the mission of bringing her back to better than when I got her.
This is the first car I owned and I don't have much mechanical background (I'm a website guy) but I'm going to learn, hopefully with assistance from the board along the way.
On the list is:

-Pull and rebuild motor
-Install new door (driver side door was hit, not sure if it would be better to buy a new door or reskin but there is hinge damage because the door doesnt sit/close right.
-figure out if I need to do any suspension or tranny work
-redo audio system
-Install new carpet
-Fix electronic door locks (guessing one solenoid is out) install trunk popper and new keyless entry system
- Much more but lastly, the one I am most intimidated by, other than rebuilding the motor, is getting it painted.

I have 2 books on rebuilding a 350 on the way, going to do some more homework then rent a hoist and start! Jumpin with both feet in so I'm a little nervous but that's the only way I will learn.

Well that's me saying hello! A little long winded but I really appreciate the time, this board seems like a really great resource and a great place for enthusiasts with good taste.
Don't mean to throw a request into this but if you have any gems of knowledge for a first time motor rebuilder/car restorer I would really really appreciate it

Thanks guys,
Mike

Welcome, Mike. You have quite the journey ahead as I read your post.
One bit of advice, ask if you don't know. The stupid question is the one not asked.
Plenty of knowledge here. Everybody learns from everybody else.

Re: New Guy Here

Welcome to the TC Crew, Mike. Looks like you've got some work cut out for you.

Set up a plan, a budget (which you will prob go over), read lots, check out the archives for info...and ask lots of questions, eh?
