New member in Australia

Hi all,
I am just embarking on a full restoration on my '69 Z/28 which was drag-raced in the early 70's and has basically been standing since. I have a LOT of work ahead of me, but the car is solid as a rock (no rust) and will be a real head-turner once finished, especially as there are not many of these in Australia.

Will no doubt be a regular poster on these pages, so wanted to say hello!

Cheers, Tim

Find Team Camaro very helpful. There's a lot of great people here with heaps of knowledge and experience to help out. I've only posted a few times and the
response has been fantastic. I'm sure we will be chatting in the near future.
Sounds like a nice car you have there and when you find a good one that's a
bit unique it's a bonus here coz as you know there's not many here.
All the best.
Cheers.

Hey Roger,
Seeing that old thread resurrected surprised me!
Haven't started the build thread yet, but plan to get one under way soon.
No, the car has never been in Victoria, it was California born and raised until importation to NSW. Where did you hear of a Z in Bacchus Marsh? I know of a '68 Z/28 with it's factory original engine (but NOM trans and rear end) for sale in VIC, but don't have the $ right now to grab it......

Re: New member in Australia

Since I posted I saw a pic of your car, not same car.

Was an original Cortez Silver Z28, ex race car, very, very rough that I went and looked at in Bacchus Marsh last year. Very low optioned car and not much original items left. Had a very hard life

Thanks for the Welcome, Capt (although that original post was nearly 2 years old!).
Yep, nice hot summer down here, but not all that relaxing, eh; seems like half the state is on fire at the moment, gotta appreciate the volunteer firefighters who are risking their lives to save people, homes and livestock from bushfires
How's your northern hemisphere Winter going so far - harsh, mild?

Re: New member in Australia

Had a really late night, last...so sleepin' at the switch, eh?

Sorry to hear of the fires you have down there. I see where they can get pretty nasty! But, do envy your summer right now. We lost ours around Christmas here in southern Ontario...got the first dump of white stuff a day or so after Yuletide. Up until then, there was green grass. Soggy, but green.

So, it's been a rather mild, wet winter... the type wherein the cold cuts right through you like in highlands of Scotland. I'd rather have the clear skies with cold temps as they do in western Canada.

I hear you; I grew up in Merry Old England, and winters used to be very cold, very clear, and with almost certain snow on Christmas Day. Nowadays, it sounds similar to what you describe - overcast, damp and cold, but without snow until maybe February. Maybe this is evidence of the worlds' climate changing, that the lab-coats keep telling us about.....
