New guy from NW Ohio

Hello my name is Chad and I just bought a 69 project car. This car is actually going to be a gift to my middle son Derek he is currently a junior in college at Ohio State, and a 69 Camaro has always been his dream car. I purchased the car from my neighbor/friend/body man he purchased the car about 3 months ago to restore but found a better one last weekend and sold me this one for what he had into it. floors and trunk are good Quarters have some mud but not too bad, fenders are OK but it came with a new set of goodmarks. standard black bucket seat interior, and body in primer. I think this car was originally a SS 350 4 speed car but who knows for sure? it now sports a 1964 as far as I can tell by casting #'s 327 with a not sure what year th400 auto. My plans are to get it running ( its been setting for years) put the original fenders back on buy new grill, bumpers window felts, carpet and I'm sure a few other things, add some more mud, smooth it out half way decent and paint it flat black with a dull orange hockey stick stripe, and give it to him for his birthday this summer. once he gets out of college and has a job he can decide how many thousands he wants to put into it. I'm sure I'll have questions as I go so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New guy from NW Ohio

Thanks for the welcome, just starting to nose around the site is there a thread or link on here to de-code my trim tag. I don't have the numbers right now but I will get them this Saturday when i go to my buddies shop to work on it. The good news on the motor is it primed right up to 60 psi with a drill, it has eddy roller rockers and domed pistons from what i could see through the #1 spark plug hole. the bad new was fuel pump was junk, it had the wrong style spark plus in it, and a fairly seized up holly 750 double pumper(way too big for a 327) on top of an old torker intake. I've got an eddy air gap and a just rebuilt tonight eddy 600 carb for it, new plugs and fuel pump and she should fire up this weekend...wish me luck.

Re: New guy from NW Ohio

well with the right plugs and a good carb the little 327 fired right up tonight with 65 psi oil pressure and purred like a kitten, also it has a solid lift cam an I believe a 4.11 posi rear end I pulled the motor today to fix a leaking rear main seal Hope to have it all back together tomorrow now I need to find out if it"s a true SS car.
