Howdy 69 Z/28 clone and 68 Convertible

New to the board but not to Camaros. Have had my '69 since '84, it was my high school ride, and my "project" convertible since '95. But I'm gearing myself up to start working on the convertible again and figured getting involved in an online community was a good start.

Convertible is clean, 99% rust-free (1 rear floor pan needs patching because it sat outside with the top down and wet carpet for awhile) but smacked in the front circa 1985. Have new upper and lower GM valances as well as an NOS cowl hood. Original fenders are useable, but will need to source a grill and some trim.

Original plans called for a 350/TH400 which came from a parts car, but that quickly was replaced by a 305TPI/TH700. Currently driveline plan will be a '96 LT1 with CNC heads and Crane cam. Put down ~360 NA at the wheels of the car it came out of. Trans plans are currently for a T56.

I have a rear axle I custom built myself which is a duplicate of the over the counter HD 12 bolt with Corvette disks. It is a narrowed '65 Impala housing with Dutchman axles and an original set of 3.55 gears and posi from a 68 Camaro L30 car.

Front brakes are re-pop JL-8 brackets. I've been starting and stopping this project for 15 years and am ready to make some progress! This was to be a "pro-touring" build long before the term existed! Come to think of it, so was my '69 which saw regular autocross duty in the late 80's.

This is a factory AC car and some of the other factory parts I have collected are Tic/Toc, factory console gauges, woodgrain wheel, OEM power window setups, bumper guards, and who knows what I have forgotten!

Funny, I bought my 68 vert in 95 too. Must have been a good time to buy/sell. Your project sounds like fun, I know mine has been and is finally nearing completion. Well.. I guess that depends on what complete means. Pretty sure my wife considered my car "done" the day I bought it.

Thanks. My wife doesn't quite understand, but at least she is tolerant! I need to set up an account to host photos as I agree!
