New to this site, but not to 1st gen Camaros

Hello everyone. I am a huge fan of first gen Camaros. For me, specifically 67's. Like some others I am sure, I got the passion for these cars when I saw the movie Better Off Dead on a date in the movie theatre when I was 14. Go ahead and make fun, it had to start somewhere. As soon as I had the money, I sold the old truck my parents gave me at 16 and bought a 68 Camaro with a 400 sb and T350. It was kind of a piece, but it was mine. Anyway, most recently, I owned as the 2nd owner a BEAUTIFUL 67 RS/SS 396 (L35) with ~85k original miles. Tahoe Turquoise, 4 speed muncie, 12 bolt, black deluxe int, console guages, and factory disc brakes. Wasn't perfect, but I loved that car. I rebuilt the engine with a big roller and ported heads, but under the hood looked completely stock L78 except for the big headers.

Anyway, I sold the car to a guy in Wisconsin several years ago from North Alabama to pay for racing and have regretted it ever since. SInce this is the biggest 1st gen site on the web, maybe you guys could tell me how or help me find my old car and get it back. Unfortunately, I don't still have the VIN, or at least I can't find it. I checked with the insurance company and all my old files, but nothing.

Anyway, glad to be a part of this site and I sure hope I can track down that old car. Maybe the new owner is on the site and is willing to sell. Who knows.

Re: New to this site, but not to 1st gen Camaros

I would attempt to track down the guy that you sold it to and see if some minor detective work could get you some results. also, i would google the vin# or enter vin# in here under a search. my car was actually on this website from some posts some years ago. it did'nt do much for me but was interesting.

good luck, hope you find it.
have you contacted the local DMV?

Re: New to this site, but not to 1st gen Camaros

OK all, I have made a breakthrough and got the VIN from my old Camaro from the county tag/title office. Anybody able to help with a search or got any advice on where to search? A google search of the VIN yielded 0 results.

Jonathan, post the VIN in our TAG section and the number gurus who have data bases will see if it shows up there. Thats about all you can do. Good luck.

Thanks Jim. Do you mean the "tag team" section? Where folks are talking about VIN and cowl tag decoding as well as other number crunching?

Thanks.
