Smile New 2nd gen Z-28 owner

Hello,

Happy to be here. Glad you all do this. It helps everyone!

I've got a 74 project that arrived last month and I'm trying to gear up to take the car to some shows. So, thats why I'm here. Need advice from all the experts. I've got an interesting story about this car. It was given to me by my father who had it stored since 1976 under blankets in a garage. If anyone happened to see info on the car in other Camaro forums, it's for the same reason. Just sharing the info. I've got the car at http://s1190.photobucket.com/albums/...cpZZ2QQtppZZ20 but I'll share the story in another thread. Alot of guys didn't believe it until I posted the pictures. Anyway, glad to be here and we'll talk with you soon. I'll post the story later this evening.

John...from Maryland

Man that's one Sweet 74 - Welcome Aboard - Did this for you John

PS: I did a lot of time in a J3 Skeeter Cub Floater when I was young with a Canoe strapped to the belly, longer then the Fuselage. The Canoe was a 16' Square Stern loaded with a 3hp Evinrude, Pack Sac's & Paddles mounted backwards against the Prop & I spent most my time taxing ponds, waiting for the wind while fighting the shoreline for the Lift Off ;o)

Can't believe you still have them Bias Ply Firestone's - Absolutely Gorgeous - Sish!

I think you will like my 70Z somewhat Modified with a 625Hp 7000rpm 10.25:1 Donovan SR LS3/M21/3:31 12 Bolt.

Re: New 2nd gen Z-28 owner

Thanks for getting the picture up. Seems I have some learning to do on these threads.

Very nice 70 there! Boy, give me 625 HP and I'll get myself in trouble. Thats crazy. Must be a blast to drive though. For those boys in the Vipers, well, I'd like to see there jaw drop when you put your foot into it. Thats gotta be a good feeling. Same with all the new high HP stuff.

Thats a heck of a story about the J3. I've had time in those and the Citabria but not with a 16' canoe. The 46 cessna name started as a result of a plane I had a few years back. I had planned to restore it to use for my son but he got bigger quicker than my wallet. I rebuilt the motor and sold it and the entire plane together for enough to get him his private license. Later, I built a Vans RV7. http://experimentalrv7.tripod.com

Well, I'm gonna go find a place to post the story on the car and ask some questions. Thanks for the input.

By the way....J3's, trees and Z's.....not to mention the canoe seem to point to the Northwest, Canada or Alaska. Were's the picture taken?

Thanks again,
JM

Not that I've spend a few years of my life on the West Coast but that PIC's just down the Road an I'm a North Ontarian Lad. Flying, Motorcycles and Fast Cars was teen to mid 20's thing, and then I got married - Now I'm separated & in my 60's - Still Ride though ;o)

Is this your RV7: - LOL

If it don't have have Floats or Ski's; Forget about being a Fly-Boy around my Country as more times then most you have to land and take off within 300/500 yards and Top the Trees or find a hole through them - Preferably "Against the Wind". Never saw a Pitts Special on Floats

What wouldn't I give to Fly an RV7 you LUCKY Man - Can't put Floats on RV7's & without them you can land or take off around here

Really HATE the 172 - Too many died, including some of my friends, in them Coffins. I loved the Skeeter, it flew like a Butter Fly - Nothing more and Nothing less. I doubt there is any of them left - Memories of my youth.

Re: New 2nd gen Z-28 owner

Here's the one I built. It's featured on http://experimentalrv7.tripod.com

It took about 3000 hours. Did it all to include the paint in the garage. The build is featured on the site.

Looks like you have a good friend there.
