New old guy with old Camaro

Hey guys new to forum. recently bought a 1968 camaro 350 auto. Nice
car but has some issues. The car has headers on it ;do not know what
kind but they cook the plug wire on the #3 cylinder. I bought a boot for it but didn't work for long. Spark plug wire touches the header when on the plug. A friend of mine thinks he can make a custom wire for it. If this doesn't work does any one have any suggestions. Thanks a lot.Bob

Re: New old guy with old camaro

you should try using header wrap.
too keep the headers from burning/melting stuff.

Re: New old guy with old camaro

Welcome, Bob. You can get 90 plug wires and turn the cap towards the middle of the two cylinders to keep away from the headers.

BTW, correct year. Others will agree.................LOL

Re: New old guy with old camaro

I believe it's Accel and others have high temp boots you can put on. Summit Racing has some for sale. I bought a universal set of wires and cut them the length I wanted and the boots seem to be holding up well so far with my chromed Tri-Y headers. Like Everett said 90*.

Re: New old guy with old Camaro

Bob are you using wire looms for the wires? No only do they keep the wires out of harms way but they look good too. BTW WHERE ARE THE PICS!!

Re: New old guy with old Camaro

I remember those days too I had a 55 Ford with a 312 cubic inch coverted to 3 on the floor with a 3.90 rear which gave most chevys a run for their money. After that I ordered a1970 W30 Olds.convertible 4 speed very rare. wish I had that one back who knew.
