Newbie that has questions.

Hi my names Jeff and recently a friend of mine offered to sell me his 1969 camaro rs/ss. It is daytona yellow with black interior and vinal top. It is a x-22 car and he states it was a l78 car but he bought it 25 years ago and has not touched it since. Are there any signs i could look for to varify it as a l78? He has the numbers matching m22 and the original 3.73 12 bolt posi, but no numbers matching motor. He does though have a compleate l78 out of a 1969 camaro that is a 4-speed motor that does go with the car. it was built a month before the car was assembled, but still not numbers matching. any help would be great to help determine the motor the car came with or whee i could possibly find a build sheet it was built in van nuys. I guess one more question what is a car like this worth? it needs compeatly restored but what do you guys think as a current value? thanks

Re: Newbie that has questions.

The car should have a big block heater box. You can search for pics on this site.

Since the engine is not in the car, look at the frame stands for the engine.
Check this out; this is how they should look:

Does the car have an original tach? It could be a L78 without the tach, but that would help prove it.

L78's did not have AC but the other BBC's did.
