transmission too high

HI, I'm putting a 468 gen 5 BB in my 1969 camaro with a turbo 400. It was a small block 4 speed car so I have all new parts. The problem is that the transmission cross member puts the transmission too high. the valve covers ( stock) hit the wiper motor. the cross member is a Eckler's CM-3, that is the correct one if it is a CM-3. there is mo marking on it and the small block member is a CM-8. if it is a small block one will that make it sit too high?

Re: transmission too high

Small block and big block cross members differ in that the big block member sets the tranny a bit to the right and the small block member sits the tranny in the middle.

Sounds more like the mount you've got is too high.

Re: transmission too high

Frame mounts (that mounts the motor to the frame) are different also! They set the motor about an inch to the passenger side.

Re: transmission too high

I put the BB frame mounts that are 2-3/8 inches wide. taller on driver side. should be the right frame mounts and i got motor mounts thats are for BB and are 2-3/8 inches wide. I think all small block stuff is 2-5/8 wide.
