Hi all. Double 67 RS owner from Sacramento, CA
Hi all. I just joined the site, but I've been a continuous Camaro owner since 1987. My first car was an 87 IROC Z-28, 305/TH700R4, which I owned for 10 years. In 1992, I purchased a 67 RS that originally came with a 327 and powerglide and A/C, but the 327 had been replaced with a '73 350. It was Bolero red with black deluxe interior, but had been subjected to a pretty cheap red paint job, which also covered some pretty heinous body damage and shoddy repair. This Camaro is currently being rebuilt with a 12-bolt rear end/3.52 gear, Baer 4-wheel disc brakes, a Muncie 4-speed, and Vintage Air A/C system, and the body is being sprayed a lighter shade of LeMans blue, with a steel cowl induction hood. The best part of this car's rebuild is the engine, which is the all aluminium ZL-1 427 that was preofessionally built by Rex Hutchison Racing Engines, and it weighs as much (or as little) as a cast iron small block. It was an expensive decision, but I wanted this car to be different from everything else. The paint should be done by today, and she'll have a white cowl stripe to match the white stripe on the bright blue deluxe interior. She'll roll on 17 X7 and 17X8 American Racing Torq Thrusts (not the D's, not the II's, just the straight spoke original version), but I haven't made up my mind about tires. I'm leaning towards BFG G-Force tires. She should be done before the end of the year, and I can't wait to park her in my garage.
Speaking of my garage, I am thinning the herd a little bit, as I also have to make room for the second '67 RS I am purchasing. She was originally Marina blue with black deluxe interior, 327/4-speed, but she is running a '68 327 with a Powerglide. My plans for her are to take her back to almost stock, with the exception of front disc brakes, a 12-bolt with a 3.73 gear, A/C, and I'll probably add a stiffer front and rear sway bar, with a 1-inch front and rear drop. I'm going to paint her the original Marina blue and stick with the black deluxe interior, and my friend/Camaro expert has an unmolested '67 unmolested 327 block that I'm going to build to look period correct but with aluminium heads and racing internals, similar to the Z-28 302 specs. Right now I think she'll end up rolling on 15x7 Cragar S/S wheels and Firestone redlines from Coker. This one should be a fun car to drive as well.
I look forward to showing my progress on both cars here, and I hope everyone stops by to say hello.
