'67 From Central FL

It's been about 3 months now that I've been lurking here before my first post. Figured it was time to say hello before I try to contribute something of value to the forum. I own my friend Scott's '67 Camaro, my second '67 actually.

I guess you're wondering what's with the name MyFriendScott. I'll tell you. My friend Scott passed away about 2 years ago at the time of this post. He was a few years older than I and helped me rebuild my first motor when I was 17 (I'm 40 now). He taught me just about everything I know about auto mechanics. Even inspired me when I was 18 to be enrolled in an automotive technology degree at a local community college where we lived. I can't even remember how many weekends and hours he and I spent in his garage or in my driveway working on camaros, chevelles, chargers. That was a long time ago.

I was fortunate enough to have a long-lasting relationship with his family, and the funds to purchase the car he left behind from the family earlier this year. It's my way to remember him, and the times he and I cruised around in the car over 15 years ago. My name is David, and this is Scott's camaro in the condition he left it.

Thanks for listening

Welcome to the Club, David. I enjoyed the story and the tribute to Scott.
Enjoy the ride. I can only imagine how tough it is to sit in the seat.

Re: '67 From Central FL

Thanks guys! Scott's family is happy to know where the car is and I send Scott's brother pictures on a pretty regular basis. Any time I take something off, it doesn't go back on until it looks better than before. Case in point, I recently replaced the rusty exhaust manifolds with OER replacements, having them ceramic coated a cast color before bolting them on. The manifolds won't change color or rust for a long time. Scott also was into the pro-touring look so I know he has no issues with me continuing along that path.

Brandan, my first '67 was also butternut yellow. Nice collection there. I know the wife would never agree to me having two camaros. I've tried, even showed her a pro-touring '70 in her favorite color, she didn't take the bait.
