Hello from Florida 1969

Hello, the name is Dave and I live near Gainesville, Florida. I have owned my Camaro since 1978. It is a 1969 350 Custom jobby. For various reasons, it has sat idle for over a year. Working to get it fully functioning again. I've got some questions, but figure this is not the section to do it in. Look forward to talking to you all.

Welcome, Dave. nice ride and I see it has the typical FL window tint. Can't say as I blame you, sun is hot there.

Re: Hello from Florida 1969

Thank for the welcome. I finally got the old gas out of the tank, but we longer have any 92 Octane non-ethanol gas available. What do you guys do if there is only ethanol gas?? I can get some non-ethanol 87 octane gas.

And no issues with the ethanol gas?? Did you have to change any tubing or gaskets?? Most of our local low test ethanol is in the 2 to 4% range, according to my tester. Never had tried to test the High Test stuff.
See they have some at one of our Marinas down in Cedar Key. Atleast 89 Octane. Maybe that with an Octane Booster??

Re: Hello from Florida 1969

I haven't had any issues with the 10% ethanol in '69. Just don't let is sit, use it within 30-60 days and you should be OK
Florida exempts boats and classics - so if you can find some at the local marina go for it. What compression are you running?

Search Sunoco, especially up by the track.

I'm lucky have a Sunoco locally that sells 100 Octane ethanol free at the pump.

Closes by me locally is only 89 octane. Would you then use it with a octane booster??
I am running an 8.5 compression.

Re: Hello from Florida 1969

Nice looking '69. I recently had my '67 retinted because the tint turned the same purple color. I think the old tint was by SunGuard. Now it's nice and dark grey again.

Re: Hello from Florida 1969

Welcome Dave. Nice to see another Camaro getting back on the road agian. Yours looks similar to one I used to see over in Keystone Heights where I went to High School back in the 80's.

At 8.5:1 compression you may get by with 89 Octane, its worth a try.
If not you can always add some octane booster as last resort
