Hello from Steeltown

Howdy everybody from the steel buckle of the rust belt (Pittsburgh)!

Recently acquired my first gen 68 camaro, unfortunately not built by me but will be working on it...Had a 74 Nova in my much younger days that my father and I dropped a 350 into - taught me a lot about cars. Didn't have much money in those days to sink into it, so it wasn't much to brag about, but I think it set the basis for a love of classic/muscle cars for me.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone - if there's anyone around Pittsburgh, let me know!

Welcome, Brian. As others will say, you've acquired the correct year.
You will be pinged for pictures, just to warn you.

Was a eastern PA/Amish Country regular as a kid - on Grandpa's farm - still a Philli's fan, even enjoy Eagles games ...

Re: Hello from Steeltown

Thanks everybody - I will post some photos as soon as I figure out how...I just registered over my lunch hour and haven't read that far ahead yet.

It's already built, red '68 SS with a 502 crate engine, turbo 350, 12 bolt posi. I would have loved to have built it myself...but now it's mine to work on!

Re: Hello from Steeltown

There is a great guy on this site that owns a powder coat shop in eastern Pitt. Been to his shop and he does beautiful work. He owns a nice 68 rs/ss too Look him up if you are finishing anything. His id is: 2001 Pewter WS6 (yeah, he has one of them too)

Oh, and I'll be out there this fall to watch the Pats kick some Steeler butt!

Re: Hello from Steeltown

I'm in the North Hills near Ross Park Mall and North Park - I'll be at the Starlite Cruise in Wexford this Friday nite, looking for another (decent) cruise on Saturday.

I went to one in Gibsonia at the end of June at the Shop N Save parking lot and there were like 10 cars there.

I was at the Hot Summer Nights cruise in Beaver this past weekend. Man, that was something...didn't see as many 1st gen Camaros as I thought I would. Lots of late 80's-90's and 00 Corvettes, though (those body styles don't exactly turn me on).
