I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I just bought a 69 Camaro SS 396 and I totally love it. I drove a 69 Z/28 that I bought when I was 17 in 1973 and I drove it until 1982. It was black with white stripes and I didn't know what I had at the time. Not knowing the value of the original drive train, before it was over the 302 and the Muncie were replaced and I sold it in 1984 for $2200. Sure wish I had it back.

I bougth my SS 396 as red, but it was originally frost green. It is going to a restoration shop for some electrical and other issues and it will be painted black with white stripes just like my old Z/28 that I loved so much. It is a 375hp, but at this age and living in the South, A/C will be a must. It is a pre Xcode car and I have no real proof of it being a real SS 396 other than the location of the hoses and the word of the 2nd owner, who was a close friend of the 1st owner (deceased). I am the 4th owner and have been in touch with the 2nd owner, who was kind enough to give me the history of the car. The car is original except for the block and carb. The original block was destroyed while the 1st owner was drag racing in 1972 and it was replaced with a 66 Chevelle big block. Maybe this is too much information, but that is my story.
