Old guy, new member

Hi. My name is Pat and I have a car addiction. I hope the regular meeting here will provide some stability to my life. I just finished a rotissier resto on my son's first car, a 1971 RS numbers matching car. It was a surprise for him. He had no idea this was happening. He saw the car for the first time this past Saturday. He still is having a hard time realizing it's his car. I look forward to great times here on this forum. Thanks. Pat

I will turn 60 in late, late, late October. Trying to push it out as far as I can. LOL. I started a thread in the bench racing section that has a link to some of my photos.

75 is getting old....85 is old
60 is just having the sudden relisation that you still have stuff to build and do, and the time frame between now and 80 is too bloody short!!!

Re: Old guy, new member

My first car was a '71 RS 350 (Daytona Yellow w/black interior, 4 speed). Bought it myself at 19 for $800, great car.

Later on, my twin boys got my wife's '67 SS/RS 350 for high school use and I taught them to drive stick at 15. Although they tried their best, they still crashed the car a few times during their high school years. The car survived and so did the two of them.

Looking back on it, it might have been a better idea (less heartbreak) to get them a more throw away car like an old Honda or something, but they still have their shared '67 Camaro and enjoy it occasionally.

Hope your son's careful and buckles up.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best.
