another fng

Brand spanking new to the site. I live in AZ. I have been looking for a 1st gen(preferrably a 69) for quite awhile. I've always found an excuse not to buy. I now have no excuses. I think I have a clue, but I'm sure I don't! Not looking to get ripped off also not looking for a matching #'rd car. Not looking for a show car just a nice ride. If anybody wants to help out a fng by pointing me in the right direction I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks

Cool Re: another fng

1st - Welcome to Team CAMARO from one of the 'FOG's

Next - hard to give specific pointers, since everybody is looking for something different most of the time ...
Also need to factor in your mechanical talents (or lack of same ), budget and want of a certain type of vehicle - 'driver'/collector/'pro'-of-some-sort/project to re-work/finish.
The neat thing about this "hobby" is that there's pretty much something for everyone that has more than just a passing interest in 1st Gens

Best advise I can give you is - look at lots of vehicles and find a look or type that you think fits your need(s) and then, as you find vehicles being offered that meet those needs, bring the vehicle and sales info to the site and allow others to comment and help you vett the pro's and con's of that particular vehicle.

Here's a link to a site that has listings from all over - http://www.cars-on-line.com/camaro.html
It will give you a good idea of what's out there and the range of pricing folks put on a given vehicle.

hope this helps

Re: another fng

This looks nice, depends on how much you have. If you look for a 69 in a lower price range, then you will sacrifice paint, options and overall quality of the car.

Welcome Friendly New Member to the TC crew.

Great time to buy due to eco times. Read, "Hemmings", vintage traders, craig/Kijiji sites, and contact some of the Camaro Clubs...and be patient. There are two other First Year Gens as well.

Re: another fng

Thanks for the welcome. I have been looking for awhile. Off and on for 10 years. Like I mentioned before I have always had an excuse to not pull the trigger. No excuses now. I'm a bit stuck on the 69 for 2 reasons. It's my birth year and my wifes Mom had 1 when we(my wife and I) were dating 25 years ago. She woldn't sell it to me because "it would just be a headache". Not going to go into detail on what she basically threw away. Anyways, my ultimate car would be a 69 convertible. Not worried about the rs ss z thing. Just a nice classic that I can work with. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Tom
