New Guy from Ohio

Hey All...I have owned a couple of '67 RSs in the past (one was 30 yrs ago when I was stationed in the Navy in San Diego), and a '69 Trans Am (also 30 yrs ago...I paid $500 for it in Tijuana...Google "$500 Tijuana Trans Am" and read the article I wrote and see the photos of it). I also started the Central Ohio Camaro Club in 1995 and got out of it after the sale of my 2nd RS in 2000. I recently bought a really unusual '68 RS that was ordered by a woman and it came with virtually no options. I'll make another post that describes the car. It's a matching number car and my plan is to restore it to near concours condition. I will be 55 years old in 5 days and the Camaro will be a nice project for my new son (he's due on 1-13-13). Looking forward to my "lifetime membership" and getting to know some of you. BTW, I'm selling my 1972 "survivor" 240Z (I'd much rather have an old Camaro). Best regards to all of you, Alex Manz

Hi Alex, I was once a member of the COCC. Good group of guys. It's sad there are no Camaro clubs here anymore (at least none I know of). Have you given any thought about starting the club back up!? PS, Happy birthday and congrats on the new baby!

Re: New Guy from Ohio

Thanks Guys...it's nice to be back in the Camaro community after many years. I tried to resurrect my car desires with a 1972 Datsun 240Z, but (obviously) it wasn't quite the same. I also had a '65 Mustang survivor for about 5 years, but the Mustang guys are even more uptight than the Camaro guys (that is a joke...sort of!). I may try to resurrect the Central Ohio Camaro Club, but probably not for a year or 2 (my first son will be here in about 8 weeks...he can push my wheelchair at his HS graduation when I'll be 73 y.o.). Of all of the GTOs, Firebirds, Mustangs (incl a Boss 302), Impalas, and the aforementioned 240Z, my favorite car of all time is still the 1st Gen Camaro (specifically the '68). It's nice to be back!
