New be here

Ok I'm not sure how these forum things work, so I guess I will see. I'm new here from Vancouver wa. I just want to say hi to all first. Second I have a 2000 Camaro that recently as the weather started getting colder my fuel Guage isn't working right, I can put $5. In gas & it says I have a full tank & pretty much just moves randomly. Any suggestions?

Re: New be here

Welcome, Kayleen.
As Mother always asaid, "Practice makes perfect."
The more you use the forum, the more familiar you become.

Reads like maybe a sending unit in the gas tank may be at fault.
Gas tank has to be dropped to get to it. A trip to your trusting independent garage for diagnosis may be in order to pinpoint the fault.

Just a warning, boys here like pictures.

Re: New be here

Yes, welcome Kayleen.

Tough to say from just the information you posted. Could be the sending unit, or possibly a loose ground wire somewhere.

Re: New be here

Well i guess I will have to be paying attention to the trip & i count my gallons so I don't run out, cuz it will be a little while till I can get her in the shop. I was hoping it would be something easy that I could fix, I will look into the ground wire though cuz i think it quit working right when I had to jump start someone. Thanks everyone for the suggestions

Re: New be here

For pictures: set up a photobucket account (it's free), upload pics there, paste link in your thread here.

Help with a problem: post your question in one of the specific forums, such as Electrical, Engines, etc... This is the Welcome section so it doesn't get as much visibility. An electrical issue posted in the electrical section will be viewed by people versed in that topic. I would say for your issue to start in Camaro Tech. If it should be in a different area the Mod will move it.

Good luck!
