Aloha from Boston

Glad to be here. I recently purchased this 69. Something I have wanted for a long time. It became available near me so I went for it. It was an older restoration. On the test drive the seller said that I had to pump he brakes but that really did not work. Once I got it to the garage we found that the brakes were new but the springs were improperly installed.

It is a bit of a beast for around town driving. The seller really did not know anything about the engine but he told me it was a newer 327 engine with a Muncie 4 speed. The .411 gears are a bit too much so I think I will go for something more streetable. It has Tomís differential tags on the axel. A mild cam with crane rollers (can be seen in the valve covers).

So anyway it looks like a bit of discovery and detuning and it will be good for summer.

Re: Aloha from Boston

Welcome aboard Steve. There are a few of us around the greater Boston area now and we're making progress toward getting together at least once a summer(when our plans aren't rained out). We've hit places like Skip's in Merrimac, the Amherst NH swap meet and the cars and coffee at the Larz Andersen Museum in Brookline. I agree having working brakes on our congested roadways is a big help. Any other plans for the car or just drive it?

Re: Aloha from Boston

Just plan to drive it for now. Make it my own and de-tune it a bit so it does not scare people ;-). I am near Kimballs in Westford which has a big cruise nitght as well. Larz Anderson has some great events as well. I will keep my eyes peeled.

Re: Aloha from Boston

Welcome aboard! I'm surprised the 327 is too much for the street. I think changing the 4.11's to something a little more cruise friendly will be the ticket.

We have a pretty good little group around the Boston area. Maybe we'll meet up at some point.
