Tony's 68 convertible restore

Hi guys!
I just got myself a 68 Camaro convertible and she is a bit rusty. I want to document the tear down and build here on the forum and hopefully get some advice along the way. I should start with a quick lesson on how to properly post photos...
I will post photos of the car as soon as I figure out how.

Re: Tony's 68 convertible restore

You'll probable want an off site photo hosting account that lets you hot link pictures. When you get it figured out start a fresh thread in the project forum if you plan to cover more than body and paint. Once you have a photo hosting site use the test drive forum to figure out picture posting...

Welcome to the site, you'll get lots of advice and help with your project here!

Re: Tony's 68 convertible restore

For quick photos use www.imgur.com.

If I were posting a build, however, I would probably use www.photobucket.com.

Both are free but photobucket, while slower, is better for saving images long term.

Once you post the pic on imgur you simply right click on it and select "copy image URL". When you make your post here hit the button at the top of the message box that's second from the right. It looks like a square that has a mountain in it, yellow background (why is it not blue?!!? Always wondered that on every message board!) and has a sun in the upper right corner. Paste the link in the box that pops up, hit OK, and go to the next image. Rinse and repeat. Once you're done with the post hit the submit button like normal and it'll show up.

In Photobucket if you hover over the image you'll see a gear show up. Hover over that, select "get links" and select the link for IMG codes. Click on it and it'll automatically copy onto your clipboard. Simply paste it into the dialog box here and hit post quick reply.

If you have more questions feel free to ask.

Re: Tony's 68 convertible restore

Welcome to the Forum Tony!
Correct year and the ultimate body style!

After you post a quick pic here in Introduction, start a thread in BUILDS.

I'm finishing my ragtop project, paint in a matter of days. Doing the last odds and ends, rechecking everything. I was able to take an auto body course and drag my heap in to work on. This was waaaaay outside my comfort zone of small body and interior fixes, engine building, racing, go-fast stuff.

Be sure to tell us/show us initial plans, where you want to end up; stock, mostly stock, show, racer, etc. List colors, upgrades planned, etc.

My thread linkie below

Best of luck and welcome to Team Camaro

Re: Tony's 68 convertible restore

You guys (and girls?) are really great and are making me feel right at home and confident about my daunting project! I really appreciate that.
I am no stranger to first gen Camaros; I have had a handful but this will be my first attempt at a semi-deep restoration involving welding and reassembly. I am an epidemiologist with my local health department and finishing up my PhD in Health Psychology so I have a lot going on. I have been looking for a new project Camaro for a couple of years now and I found this 68 Convertible. I will start a new thread in the Build section with photos! I now have a photobucket account and I am ready to go...see you there....

Re: Tony's 68 convertible restore

wow!
Before doing anything, take a few hundred pics of EVERYTHING.
Document everything that you remove
Baggies for each component.
Note INSIDE bag, not writing on the bag, of what the goodies are
No not invite over-enthusiastic friends over to help
